Youth Pastor, Who Denied Slapping a Female Reporter’s Butt, Pleads Guilty to Sexual Battery

Tommy Callaway, a youth pastor at the Pittman Park United Methodist Church in Georgia, pleaded guilty on Sept. 2 to charges of sexual battery of WSAV reporter Alex Bozarjian on Dec. 7, 2019 (VIDEO BELOW).

Bozarjian praised the conviction in a video she uploaded to Twitter.

The Associated Press reports that a Chatham County judge sentenced Callaway to one year of probation, a $1,000 fine and 200 hours of community service.

Callaway has been banned from all future Savannah races, reports the New York Post.

Callaway was filmed bending down, reaching out and slapping Bozarjian’s butt during a marathon in Savannah, Georgia.

Shortly after the incident, Callaway told Inside Edition that he was “caught up in the moment” and was trying to wave to the TV camera:

I was getting ready to bring my hands up and wave to the camera to the audience, there was a misjudge in character and decision-making. I touched her back; I did not know exactly where I touched her.

Bozarjian told “CBS This Morning” on Dec. 10 about the incident:

The moment it happened, you’re in disbelief. You feel like, “Did that really just happen?”… It was extremely vulnerable. I think the reason why maybe it caught so much fire is that the emotion is relatable for women all over the world.

It’s not OK to help yourself to a woman’s body just because you feel like it. It’s not playful. He hurt me, both physically and emotionally. I think in order to make any kind of change, you have to be a little bit drastic. You have to chip away at this toxic culture that permeates our society.
