A customer who was filmed going on a racist rant at a Dollar Tree in Lawrenceville, Georgia, on Dec. 27 insisted that she is not racist.
Pamela Sharma was filmed calling an African-American customer a “black slave,” notes WSB-TV.
According to clerk Alise Fowler, Sharma came to the store and left an item on the register because she wasn’t going to buy it. Fowler recalled asking Sharma to hand her the item which was when the incident happened.
“She called me a ‘black bitch,’ a ‘black whore,’” Fowler said. “She told me to go back to Africa. She told me she would shoot me.”
Fowler filed a complaint with the Gwinnett County police, but ultimately chose not to press charges.
Sharma told WSB-TV (video below) that she is not a racist because she used to teach black and latino students, was raised in a Christian school and born into a “Hindu priest-class family.”
“If my life doesn’t matter to you, and my people died, who were represented with Gandhi, your live doesn’t matter to me either. Is that a racist comment?” Sharma said.
Despite the video showing her racist comments, Sharma insisted that she was the victim of racism, and that Fowler started the argument and threatened to attack her before the incident was filmed; Sharma denied threatening anyone.
