White Michigan Man Insists He Is Not Racist After Being Charged With Shooting Black Family’s Home and Car
Michael John Frederick is accused of firing multiple gunshots into his black neighbors’ home and truck in Warren, Michigan.
There was also graffiti written on the family’s truck: “terrorist,” “black lives matter,” “get the f*ck out” and “not welcome” with a swastika.
Frederick is facing nine charges, including three counts of ethnic intimidation.
He has pleaded not guilty, but insisted in court that his actions were not based on skin color, notes Detroit Free Press:
I can say it’s not like me. I acted way out of character. This wasn’t about the color of anyone’s skin.
However, a police detective who testified in court that Frederick “claimed he targeted [the Halls] due to a Black Lives matter sign that had been displayed in the front window of the house.”
