U.S. Strategic Command rang in the New Year by tweeting (and later removing) a video of U.S. military aircraft dropping bombs while saying it was going to drop something “much, much bigger” than the New Year’s Eve ball in New York:
#TimesSquare tradition rings in the #NewYear by dropping the big ball…if ever needed, we are #ready to drop something much, much bigger.
After outrage followed, the tweet was deleted from the U.S. Strategic Command’s Twitter (after it was recorded by others) and replaced by: “Our previous NYE tweet was in poor taste & does not reflect our values. We apologize. We are dedicated to the security of America & allies.”
