Trump’s Special Assistant Kelly Sadler Mocked ‘Dying’ Sen. John McCain: Report
UPDATE: Sen. John McCain’s former campaign manager Steve Schmidt slammed President Donald Trump and Sadler as “vile” during an interview on MSNBC.
President Donald Trump’s special assistant Kelly Sadler reportedly mocked the brain cancer diagnosis of Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona during an internal meeting.
A source told The Hill that Sadler slammed McCain for opposing President Trump’s pro-torture nominee for CIA director, Gina Haspel:
It doesn’t matter, he’s dying anyway.
A second source said there was a “discomfort” in the room after Sadler’s comment.
The White House did not deny Sadler’s remarks, but did issue a statement:
We respect Senator McCain’s service to our nation and he and his family are in our prayers during this difficult time.
Sadler refused to comment, but a source told The Hill that she called the senator’s daughter Meghan McCain to apologize.
Sadler, a former opinion editor for The Washington Times, reportedly sends out press releases about illegal immigration for the Trump administration.
