White House chief of staff Mark Meadows told CNN anchor Jake Tapper that the Trump administration is “not going to control” the coronavirus pandemic that has killed 225,000 Americans:
We are not going to control the pandemic. We are going to control the fact that we get vaccines, therapeutics and other mitigation Areas.
When Tapper asked why the Trump administration is not going to try to control the COVID-19 outbreak, Meadows contradicted himself by claiming the Trump administration would control the number of deaths with “proper mitigation factors“:
What we need to do is make sure we have the proper mitigation factors to make sure people don’t die.
