Trump Wanted To Illegally Invade Venezuela: Report
President Donald Trump reportedly wanted to launch an illegal pre-emptive strike and invasion of Venezuela in August 2017.
A senior administration official told the Associated Press that U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster — who have since resigned — were stunned by Trump’s idea.
McMaster and others reportedly told Trump how the military invasion could backfire and cost the U.S. support among Latin American governments.
Trump reportedly countered by citing similar illegal invasions of Panama and Grenada by President Reagan.
