President Donald Trump’s campaign released an ad that claims Democrats “will be complicit in every murder committed by illegal immigrants” if Trump does not get congressional funding for his border wall, which Trump turned down (from Democrats).
Trump released his ad while the federal government shutdown caused employees to be furloughed or work without pay.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer offered to support funding for a border wall in exchange for legal status for DREAMers, undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children, reports The Hill (video below).
However, Trump refused the funding for his border wall via White House Chief of Staff, John Kelly, who said the wall funding was not enough.
Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer on his meeting with President Trump: “In exchange for strong DACA protections, I reluctantly put the border wall on the table for discussion. Even that was not enough to entice the President to finish the deal” https://t.co/huVlNm6rf4
