President Donald Trump tried to overrule Dr. Anthony Fauci on using hydroxychloroquine, a common anti-malaria drug, to treat the coronavirus.
Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said the evidence was anecdotal, and the drug has not been approved as a treatment for COVID-19.
Trump added his non-scientific claim:
What the doctor said is 100 percent correct, it is early. I have seen things that are impressive, we’ll see, we’ll know soon.
