Trump Threatens to Cut Funding From Schools That Won’t Reopen As COVID-19 Cases Soar, He Opposes CDC Health Guidelines
President Donald Trump tweeted that he might cut funding from schools that don’t reopen, which will ensure they will never open.
Trump also accused Democrats of delaying school openings because of the November election. He also opposed CDC guidelines, and comparing them to other countries for schools that have reopened.
He failed to mention that those countries also followed strict measures in order to reopen schools and still had serious problems.
In Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and many other countries, SCHOOLS ARE OPEN WITH NO PROBLEMS. The Dems think it would be bad for them politically if U.S. schools open before the November Election, but is important for the children & families. May cut off funding if not open!— Donald J. I disagree with @CDCgov on their very tough & expensive guidelines for opening schools. While they want them open, they are asking schools to do very impractical things. I will be meeting with them!!!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 8, 2020
Dr. Dena Grayson, a physician in Florida, warned Trump what would happen if the schools reopen.
More than 134,000 Americans are DEAD, and we now average >50,000 new #COVID19 cases EACH DAY, more than most countries have had in total.— Dr. Dena Grayson (@DrDenaGrayson) July 8, 2020
If kids go back to school in places with raging #coronavirus outbreaks, the virus will spread like wildfire, and MORE AMERICANS WILL DIE.🤬 pic.twitter.com/kjW2JaWUde
