Trump Tells Governors to Open Schools With Only Weeks Left, Contradicts White House Guidelines
President Donald Trump told some governors that they should “seriously consider” reopening schools, and claimed that young children “have done very well” with the deadly coronavirus, notes ABC News:
Some of you might start thinking about school openings. Because a lot of people are wanting to have the school openings. It’s not a big subject, young children have done very well in this disaster that we’ve all gone through. So a lot of people are thinking about the school openings.
However, the White House guidelines say the opposite for schools:
SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZED YOUTH ACTIVITIES (e.g., daycare, camp) that are currently closed should remain closed.
