Trump Supporters Willing to Die to Reopen Economy, Put The Responsibility on God
The Daily Beast reports that supporters of President Donald Trump are sparking a “protest movement” against state and local officials who are telling people to follow social distancing rules in order to curtail the deadly coronavirus pandemic.
Trump fans want to force states to reopen their economies even though 26,000 Americans have died from the virus so far, and the number is growing.
North Carolina activist Ashley Smith, who founded the anti-social distancing group “ReopenNC,” put the responsibility for her foolish choices on God:
When it’s my time to go, God’s going to call me home. I think that to live is inherently to take risks. I’m not concerned about this virus any more than I am about the flu.
Michigan activist Rosanne Ponkowski sounded disappointed that the death toll has been lowered due to social distancing restrictions:
They were predicting huge numbers of people falling ill and dying, and that wasn’t the case.
Former Georgia Congressman Jack Kingston, a longtime ally of Trump, expressed the cause of his sorrows:
The liquor stores and dispensaries are open but I can’t buy gun!
