A large group of Trump supporters pushed past the federal police outside the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C., and got inside the Senate and House after lawmakers were whisked away by security.
Earlier in the day, President Donald Trump spoke to the protesters and told them to go to the Capitol, but has failed to say anything about the subsequent violence at press time.
The Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Some were met by Capitol police, with guns drawn, inside.
Huff Post journalist Igor Bobic tweeted pictures and video from inside the Capitol, which showed Trump fans with a Confederate flag and chasing a black police officer (VIDEO ABOVE).
