President Donald Trump told reporters on Air Force One on July 31 that his going to ban the Chinese-owned social media site TikTok from operating in the U.S., but didn’t say exactly how, reports Bloomberg:

As far as TikTok is concerned, we’re banning them from the United States. I will sign the document tomorrow.

TikTok U.S. General Manager Vanessa Pappas defied Trump on and spoke to U.S. fans of the social media site in a TikTok video on Aug. 1:

We’ve heard your outpouring of support, we’re not planning on going anywhere.” The company will bring 10,000 jobs into the US over the next three years. We’re here for the long run.
