Trump Opposed Half-Staff Flag Because He Thought McCain Got Too Much TV Coverage
President Donald Trump reportedly chose not to lower the White House flag to half-staff for hours on Aug. 27 because he was angry about the positive TV coverage for the late John McCain.
The Wall Street Journal notes: “Mr. Trump resisted, and viewed the news coverage of the former senator’s death as over-the-top and more befitting a president, according to people familiar with the situation.”
Only after pressure from Republicans, Democrats and the American Legion did Trump re-lower the flag to half-staff.
