President Donald Trump falsely falsely claimed that Germany was “totally controlled by Russia” during the NATO meeting in Brussels.
Trump said Germany gets up to 70 percent of its energy from Russia, but failed to mention that Germany has a large reserve, can stop buying from Russia, and currently buys energy from Norway and the Netherlands, notes The New York Times.
White House Chief of Staff John Kelly looked visibly uncomfortable while Trump lied about one of American’s strongest allies. Kelly turned his eyes down to the table and turned his body away from the president as if contemplating making an escape.
