President Donald Trump falsely claimed during a press conference that his administration was prepared for the the nationwide outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.
First, Trump claimed pretended nobody knew about the COVID-19 virus: “It could have been stopped pretty easily if everybody had known.”
However, NBC News reporter Kristen Welker debunked that lie: “You said you did know.”
Trump then blamed China: “It could have been stopped in its tracks. Unfortunately, [China] didn’t decide to make it public.”
Welker fired back: “You did say a few days ago that you did have a sense that this was a pandemic. So why was the United States not prepared with more tests?”
Trump lied again and blamed the media: “We were very prepared. The only thing we weren’t prepared for was the media. The media has not treated it fairly.”
