Trump Hires Scandal-Ridden Pam Bondi For His Impeachment Defense Team
President Donald Trump has hired former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi as part of his impeachment team, reports the Wall Street Journal.
The Daily Beast notes Bondi’s scandal-ridden history with Trump:
In 2014, Trump reportedly donated $25,000 to a political action committee supporting Bondi’s re-election campaign in Florida. About a month after the donation, [Bondi’s] office announced that [Bondi] would not be acting on complaints against Trump University—which raised quid pro quo suspicions.
Bondi went on to be a guest host for the Fox News show “The Five,” and in January 2019 Bondi joined Ballard Partners, a lobbying firm with connections to Trump.
Bondi has been lobbying for Qatar, a country with a record of human rights abuses, reports NBC News.
Bondi has the backing of Stephanie Grisham, the White House press secretary, who has two DUIs on her criminal record, reported the New York Daily News.
