Trump & Fox News Falsely Claim Philadelphia Eagles Kneeled During National Anthem, They Were Praying
President Donald Trump falsely claimed that the Philadelphia Eagles protested during the National Anthem by kneeling, and “Fox News at Night with Shannon Bream” pushed Trump’s lie by showing a misleading picture of the Eagles praying on June 4.
The Philadelphia Eagles Football Team was invited to the White House. Unfortunately, only a small number of players decided to come, and we canceled the event. Staying in the Locker Room for the playing of our National Anthem is as disrespectful to our country as kneeling. Sorry!

NJ.com fact-checked Trump and Fox News:
Fact: No player on the Eagles took a knee during the national anthem during the 2017 regular season, post season or Super Bowl last season.
That is not what you might believe, however, reading the tweets of President Donald Trump or watching Fox News on Tuesday morning.
Eagles player Zach Ertz also called out Fox News for lying:
This can’t be serious…. Praying before games with my teammates, well before the anthem, is being used for your propaganda?! Just sad, I feel like you guys should have to be better than this… https://t.co/kYeyH2zXdK

Fox News issued an apology after being caught in their lie with Trump:
During our report about President Trump canceling the Philadelphia Eagles trip to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl win, we showed unrelated footage of players kneeling in prayer. To clarify, no members of the team knelt in protest during the national anthem throughout regular or post-season last year. We apologize for the error.
