Trump Fan, In Economically Ravaged Ohio, Will Vote For Trump Because He Frightens The World
Darrell Franks — a retired tool and die maker in economically ravaged Vienna Township, Ohio, Ohio — told the New York Times that he backs President Donald Trump because he likes the idea of having a president who frightens the rest of the world:
What I want from a president is the rest of the world to look at him and go, “Don’t mess with that guy, he will get even.” I don’t want kinder, gentler. I don’t want some female that wants her agenda.
Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio said that many people in the area have long been angry about economic decline and support someone who promises to hurt others on their behalf:
The communities were cut loose and ignored and then they voted for Trump because at least he’s punching somebody in the face, and no one else is.
Tim O’Hara, vice president of United Auto Workers Local 1112, said that union workers strongly support anti-union Trump even after auto plant closings:
I don’t think those Trump people are going to flip back, even if it’s Joe Biden, who has a lot of support in this area. I think they’re dug in on Trump. Whatever happens, they’re going to go down with the ship with him.
