Trump Falsely Claims Roger Stone Prosecutors Were ‘Bad People’ Who ‘Got Caught by Me’
President Donald Trump falsely claimed that the four U.S. attorneys involved in prosecuting Roger Stone were “bad people” whom Trump supposedly caught.
Trump told his outlandish lie — about the four prosecutors who resigned in protest of Trump — during an interview with Fox News’ Geraldo Rivera on Cleveland-based radio station WTAM:
I don’t think they quit for moral reasons. I think they got caught in the act by me! What am I going to do, let a man go to jail for nine years when murderers aren’t going to jail! You have some of the most serious, horrible rapists and everything else, they don’t go to jail for nine years… They’re doing it because they’re bad people!
