Trump Calls Fox News Host Chris Wallace ‘Fake News’ After Being Fact-Checked on COVID-19 Mortality Rate

President Donald Trump called Fox News host Chris Wallace “fake news” after Wallace fact-checked Trump’s false claim that the U.S. has the “lowest” COVID-19 mortality rate in the world.

Trump called on White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany to back up his false claim. She gave Trump a piece of paper, and he gloated: “Number one low mortality rate. I hope you show this because it shows what fake news is.”

Wallace fact-checked Trump on the spot with numbers from Johns Hopkins University, which says the U.S. ranks seventh in mortality for the coronavirus.
