Trump Calls Dr. Deborah Birx ‘Pathetic’ After She Says COVID-19 is ‘Extraordinarily Widespread’
House speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Aug. 2 that Dr. Deborah Birx, the coronavirus task force coordinator, has helped President Donald Trumpspread “disinformation” about the COVID-19 virus and the administration’s response, reports The Guardian.
Birx responded on Aug. 2 by telling CNN that the country has entered a “new phase” of the deadly pandemic:
I want to be very clear: What we’re seeing today is different from March and April. It is extraordinarily widespread.
Birx said it was “possible” that COVID-19 related deaths could top 300,000 by the end of the year, which was projected by former Food and Drug Administration commissioner Scott Gottlieb, notes the Washington Post.
Trump responded with a childish insult on Twitter.
So Crazy Nancy Pelosi said horrible things about Dr. Deborah Birx, going after her because she was too positive on the very good job we are doing on combatting the China Virus, including Vaccines & Therapeutics. In order to counter Nancy, Deborah took the bait & hit us. Pathetic!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 3, 2020
