Trump and His Senior Officials Want to Stop Social Distancing To Get Stock Market Going

President Donald Trump and his senior officials want to put an end to social distancing — one of the main ways to stop the coromnavirus pandemic — to get the stock market going again, notes Axios.

Trump tweeted he was moving this direction in all caps on March 22.

Trump’s Director of the National Economic Council Larry Kudlow parroted Trump’s message on Fox News on March 23:

The cure can’t be worse than the disease and we will have to make some difficult tradeoffs… I spoke to the president about this very subject.

Vice President Mike Pence, who heads the White House’s Coronavirus Task Force, said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will issue guidance allowing people exposed to the coronavirus to return to work sooner by wearing a mask.

This would contradict the CDC itself, numerous state health agencies and the World Health Organization (WHO) favor a longer period of nationwide social distancing and quarantining.
