Deyshia Hargrave, a teacher, was arrested in Abbeville, Louisiana, on Jan. 8 after questioning a school supervisor’s raise twice during a school board meeting.
Hargrave was locked in jail and charged with remaining in area that is forbidden and resisting an officer, reports KATC.
In a video of the arrest, the officer demands that she stop resisting after he pushes her to the ground and she allows him to handcuff her and lead her out of the building where the meeting took place.
The controversy began when Hargrave asked several questions about the raise during a public comment time, and the Vermilion Parish School Board president Anthony Fontana ruled Hargrave out of order.
The marshal’s office refused to comment on the arrest.
