Students, Faculty Walk Out During Mike Pence Commencement Speech At Taylor University

About 30 students and faculty walked before Vice President Mike Pence’s commencement speech at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana on May 18, notes WANE.

Pence told the students to “stand up” for Christianity, which many did and exited. They later returned to get their diplomas, reports Indy Star:

Laura Rathburn, one of the students to walk out, decorated the top of her mortarboard in rainbow colors and a message that said: “Ally Visible For Those Who Can’t Be.”

Rathburn refused to shake Pence’s hand on stage.
