Sen. Tom Cotton Wants U.S. Army — 101st Airborne Division — to Attack Civilians
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) tweeted that he wanted the 101st Airborne Division — a specialized division of the United States Army trained for air assault operations — to attack civilians (whom he falsely deems “Antifa terrorists”) in American cities.
Anarchy, rioting, and looting needs to end tonight.— Tom Cotton (@TomCottonAR) June 1, 2020
If local law enforcement is overwhelmed and needs backup, let’s see how tough these Antifa terrorists are when they’re facing off with the 101st Airborne Division.
We need to have zero tolerance for this destruction.
However, Cotton’s fantasy attack would violate the Posse Comitatus Act and the Insurrection Act.
Just Security notes the “president must receive a request for military assistance from a state legislature or governor before deploying the military for domestic law enforcement.”
