Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine cited a conspiracy theory, created by Ed Whelhan of the right wing Ethics and Public Policy Center, that claims Christine Blasey Ford was assaulted by someone other than Supreme Court Brett Kavanaugh in order to justify her (Collins) vote.
Collins failed to provide any evidence of this alternate reality theory.
Collins also claimed to support the MeToo# movement, which slammed her on Twitter during her nearly one-hour speech.
She also attacked the unknown person(s) who supposedly leaked Ford’s name to the media as being the real villain (video below).
COLLINS, SHORTER: Sure, sexual assault is bad, but the real villain here is whoever leaked Dr. Ford’s letter detailing her sexually assault allegation against Kavanaugh to the media! pic.twitter.com/XBIoKWWaki
