Sen. Rand Paul Delays Coronavirus Aid While Illness Spreads and Americans Die
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) delayed a vote in the Senate for the coronavirus aid bill after fellow Kentuckian Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell promised the Senate would move at “warp speed.”
The bipartisan bill includes free coronavirus testing, paid emergency leave, lengthens unemployment insurance, strengthens food security initiatives and increases federal Medicaid funding to states.
Paul added a bound-to-fail amendment to the aid bill that would “require a social security number for purposes of the child tax credit, and to provide the President the authority to transfer funds as necessary, and to terminate United States military operations and reconstruction activities in Afghanistan.”
