Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn) — who has a long history of denying science and making false claims — bragged on Fox Business about how she was a “neanderthal,” but then mangled the definition of neanderthals (unintelligent cave dwellers who became extinct 40,000 years ago):
We were called Neanderthals when I led the fight against imposition of a state income tax. I started the Neanderthal caucus. Because Neanderthals are hunters-gatherers … they are protectors of their families. They are resilient, they are resourceful. They tend to their own.
Blackburn was one of eight “pro-life” Republicans who voted against the Coronavirus Relief Package in 2020, which provided medical care and economic relief to millions of Americans, noted Esquire.
