Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York slammed President Donald Trump and the Republican-controlled Senate Judicary Committee for blocking an FBI investigation into an alleged sexual assault by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Gillibrand said during a press conference that she believes the alleged victim Christine Blasey Ford, who has called for the FBI investigation, which Republicans oppose:
Who is not asking the FBI to investigate these claims? The White House. Judge Kavanaugh has not asked to have the FBI to review these claims. Is that the reaction of an innocent person? It is not.
Meanwhile, Kavanaugh is being rehearsed for his Sept. 24 testimony — in the front of the Senate Judiciary Committee — by several Trump officials, including deputy chief of staff Bill Shine who resigned from Fox News after it was alleged that he covered up numerous sexual harassment allegations against Fox News anchor Bill O’Reilly and Fox News CEO Roger Ailes.
