Sen. Joe Manchin Cites Republican Conspiracy Theory To Vote For Kavanaugh

Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia cited a Republican conspiracy theory —  created by Ed Whelhan of the right wing Ethics and Public Policy Center  — that claims someone, not Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, assaulted Christine Blasey Ford:

Something happened — I don’t believe that the facts showed it was Brett Kavanaugh. But I believe something happened… I think something happened to her. I just — there was no way — no way at all we could see.

While Manchin tried to justify his vote for Kavanaugh, female protesters shouted: “Shame on you!”
