Republican. Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa has called for the FBI to investigate Julie Swetnick one of three women who claimed to be sexually assaulted by Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Grassley, who opposed an FBI investigation into Kavanaugh, also called for an FBI investigation into Swetnick’s lawyer and Trump legal foe Michael Avenatti, reports CNN.
Grassley, who told the infamous Obamacare “death panels” lie, wants the FBI and the Department of Justice to “look into whether these were materially false statements made to the committee.”
Avenatti slammed Grassley on Twitter for his hypocrisy:
It is ironic that Senator Grassley now is interested in investigations. He didn’t care when it came to putting a man on the SCOTUS for life. We welcome the investigation as now we can finally get to the bottom of Judge Kavanaugh’s lies and conduct. Let the truth be known.
