Democratic Sen. Al Franken of Minnesota, who is accused of sexual misconduct by four women, said that he “can’t say” that he has never grabbed a woman’s butt.
Franken made the statement during an interview with WCCO, a TV news station in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Franken apologized for his conduct, and said he was “embarrassed and ashamed of some of what has come out.”
Franken was asked if women are mistaken in their allegations that he grabbed their butts while posing for photos, and replied:
I am not saying that. As I said, I take thousands of photos. I don’t remember these particular photos.
Franken was asked if he has ever grabbed woman’s butt, and said:
I can’t say that it hasn’t happened. I take thousands and thousands of pictures, sometimes in crowded and chaotic situations, I can’t say I haven’t done that. I am very sorry if these women experienced that.
…I think I can win back the respect of the people of Minnesota and I understand I have a long way to go.
