Republican Rep. Mark Meadows of North Carolina insisted at the Michael Cohen hearing that he was not racist after he introduced a black woman, Lynne Patton, to prove President Donald Trump is not racist.
Meadows claimed that Patton’s appointment to the Department of Housing and Urban Development was proof Trump wasn’t racist. Meadons insisted he was not racist after being called out for his “racist” stunt by Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan.
Mediaite notes Meadows once used a racist “birther” conspiracy theory about President Obama at a Tea Party Express forum in June of 2012,:
And so what we’re going to do is take back our country, 2012 is the time that we’re going to send Mr. Obama home to Kenya, or wherever it is. We’re going to do it.
