White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders falsely claimed during a press conference that President Donald Trump won the 2016 election by an “overwhelming majority of 63 million Americans,” when in reality he lost by close to 3 million votes.
ABC News reported in December 2016:
According to vote tallies from The Associated Press, Clinton amassed 65,844,610 votes across all 50 states and Washington D.C., 48.2 percent of all votes cast. Trump received 62,979,636 votes, 46.1 percent of all votes cast.
Sanders also defended Trump’s constant attacks against the media by claiming the attacks were defensive, but failed to provide proof.
