White House press secretary Sarah Sanders, who claims to follow Jesus, lied about FBI employees not liking then-FBI director James Comey in May 2017, notes Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report (video below).
Mother Jones reports that “after a reporter said that a ‘vast majority’ of agents supported Comey, Sanders replied, ‘Look, we’ve heard from countless members of the FBI that say very different things.”
Mueller’s report concluded that Sanders’ claim was “not founded on anything.”
Sanders reportedly told Mueller’s team that she had made a “slip of the tongue.”
Andrew McCabe, then-acting head of the FBI, said in May 2017 that Comey “enjoyed broad support in the FBI and he still does to this day … The vast majority of FBI staff enjoyed a deep and positive connection to Director Comey,” reported The Guardian.
