White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders twice dodged a question by ABC News chief White House Correspondent John Karl about why President Donald Trump is threatening to shut down the U.S. government if he does not get U.S. taxpayer funding for the border wall that he promised Mexico would build.
Instead of answering the question, Sanders robotically replied:
He campaigned on the wall. He won on talking about building a wall. And he’s going to make sure that that gets done and he’ll continue to fight for that funding and ensure that it takes place.
Sanders was also asked why Trump no longer promises Mexico is going to pay for the wall. Sanders replied with a nonsensical negative- positive: “He hasn’t said they’re not either.”
