RNC Finance Chair Steve Wynn Paid $7.5 Million To Keep Rape Allegations Secret: Report
The Wall Street Journal reports that Las Vegas mogul and RNC finance chair Steve Wynn paid a $7.5 million settlement to a female manicurist whom he allegedly raped in 2005 when he opened his Wynn Las Vegas hotel.
Sources recounted the alleged incident to The Wall Street Journal:
After she gave Mr. Wynn a manicure, she said, he pressured her to take her clothes off and told her to lie on the massage table he kept in his office suite.
The manicurist said she told Mr. Wynn she didn’t want to have sex and was married, but he persisted in his demands that she do so, and ultimately she did disrobe and they had sex.
The manicurist’s female supervisor reportedly heard about the rape allegation and gave a detailed report of the incident to the company’s human resources department, which caused Wynn to pay the manicurist the $7.5 million settlement, sources told The Wall Street Journal.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Wynn Resorts employees and others also claim that Wynn sexualized the workplace and pressured workers to perform sexual acts.
Wynn denied The Wall Street Journal report: “The idea that I ever assaulted any woman is preposterous.”
President Donald Trump, who has been accused of sexual misconduct and assault by 16 women, has called Wynn a “great friend.”
