Reporters Fact-Check Trump On Immigrant Family Separation To His Face, He Keeps Lying

President Donald Trump was fact-checked to his face by reporters after falsely claiming the Democrats had passed a law that requires immigrant children to be separated from their parents.

The Trump administration announced back in May it was going to use criminal prosecution against undocumented people who come into the country, including asylum seekers.

As part of the criminal prosecution, the Trump administration is choosing to separate families, which Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders claim is supported by the Bible.

The Democratic law that Trump was referring to is a civil, not criminal, process. Children were not separated from their parents under Democratic administrations.

Despite the overwhelming facts, Trump repeatedly lied to journalists by claiming the Democrats put his policy into place and that Republicans did not have enough votes to change the law:

I hate the children being taken away. The Democrats have to change their law. That’s their law… The children, the children can be taken care of quickly, beautifully and immediately. The Democrats forced that law upon our nation. I hate it. I hate to see separation of parents and children.
