Rep. Mark Meadows Tries To Defend Trump From Racism Charges, Uses Black Woman As Prop

Republican Rep. Mark Meadows of North Carolina used Lynne Patton, a black Trump administration official, used a black woman, Lynne Patton, as a prop to defend President Donald Trump from charges of racism by Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen (more video below).

Meadows argued that Patton’s appointment to the Department of Housing and Urban Development was proof Trump wasn’t racist:

Mr. Cohen, I guess what I’m saying is, I’ve talked to the president over 300 times, I’ve not heard a racist comment out of his mouth in private.

Cohen replied:

Ask Ms. Patton how many people who are black are executives at the Trump Organization. And the answer is zero.

Democrat Rep. Brenda Lawrence of Michigan slammed Meadows:

Thank you Mr. Chairman. I just want to put on the record that being a black American and having endured public comments of racism from the sitting president as being a black person I can only imagine what’s being said in private.

To prop on one member of our entire race of black people and say that nullifies that is totally insulting. In this environment of expecting a president to be inclusive – to look at his administration speaks volumes.
