Referee Says Rep. Jim Jordan Admitted To Knowing About Sexual Abuse At Ohio State
A professional referee says in a lawsuit that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) was aware of the sexual abuse perpetrated by wrestling team doctor Richard Strauss at Ohio State, when Jordan was an assistant wrestling coach, but Jordan did nothing to stop it in 1994, reports NBC News.
The lawsuit, filed by one of Strauss’ victims, says the referee reported it to Jordan and then-head coach Russ Hellickson, who casually replied: “Yeah, that’s Strauss. Yeah, yeah, we know.”
The allegation directly contradicts Jordan’s denials. Jordan has even gone as far as to falsely claim that he had been cleared by a report.
John Doe, who filed the lawsuit, told NBC News how Jordan is lying:
It was common knowledge what Strauss was doing so the attitude was it is what it is. I wish Jim, and Russ, too, would stand up and do the right thing and admit they knew what Strauss was doing, because everybody knew what he was doing to the wrestlers. What was a shock to me is that Strauss tried to do that to me. He was breaking new ground by going after a ref.
