MSNBC host Rachel Maddow debunked Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s unproven conspiracy theory about Christine Blasey Ford’s sexual assault allegations being a two-week “political hit”:
This whole two week effort has been a calculated and orchestrated political hit, fueled with apparent pent up anger about President Trump and the 2016 election.
Maddow destroyed Kavanaugh’s conspiracy theory noting that Ford contacted Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California when he was named to Trump’s short list of nominees in July, weeks before he was the actual nominee:
No. No, actually. And not just as a point of argument, as a point of fact… We now know — attested to by both sides — that Christine Blasey Ford came forward about Brett Kavanaugh when she found out Brett Kavanaugh was on the short list for the call.
She made her calls, she started trying to to alert the Congress about this alleged assault by Kavanaugh before he was picked for the Supreme Court.
She was trying to get them to not pick him for the Supreme Court. She proved today — with evidence cited by the Republicans’ hired prosecutor — that she emphatically did not wait to find out who the nominee was for the Supreme Court seat.
That is a big factual problem for the defense that was raised for Kavanaugh today.
