A man identified as Emmanuel Quinones brought a loaded Smith & Wesson .223 caliber semi-automatic firearm to a Black Lives Matter protest in Lubbock, Texas on June 2.
Several protesters disarmed and tackled Quinones, who was taken into custody and charged with making interstate threats, notes KVEO.
Quinones allegedly made threats on social media to intimidate President Donald Trump and “MAGA instigators,” according to a press release by FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Matthew J. DeSarno:
The FBI respects the rights of individuals to peacefully exercise their First Amendment rights. In this case, the defendant threatened multiple lives including the President of the United States and that will not be tolerated.
We will continue working with our local, state, and federal partners to apprehend and charge violent instigators who are exploiting legitimate, peaceful protests and engaging in violations of federal law.
