‘Pro-Life’ Groups Support GOP Health Plan That Cuts Pregnancy, Maternity Care
Several so-called “pro-life” groups are supporting the Graham-Cassidy bill, which would replace Obamacare and cut off health insurance coverage (pregnancy and maternity care) for an estimated 13 million American women.
The Graham-Cassidy bill would allow insurance companies to charge women thousands of dollars more for their “pre-existing condition” of pregnancy, and allow “states to revoke Medicaid coverage from new mothers who haven’t found a job within two months after giving birth,” notes Right Wing Watch.
Two “pro-life” groups, the Family Research Council and the Susan B. Anthony List, released a statement that did not mention the loss of maternity and pregnancy care:
This legislation offers Republicans the best chance to fulfill their promises to repeal and replace Obamacare, stop taxpayer funding of abortion, and redirect tax dollars away from the nation’s largest abortion business, Planned Parenthood, to comprehensive health care alternatives.
Live Action head Lila Rose, the National Right to Life Committee and Americans United for Life are all reportedly supporting the Graham-Cassidy bill.
