Police Officer Survives Wild Shootout With Suspect In Arkansas

A newly-released dashcam video shows a wild shootout during a traffic stop on Nov. 11 in Tontitown, Arkansas.

Cpl. Brett Thompson pulled over a green Saturn for a traffic violation, but the driver, Luis Cobos-Cenobio, started shooting at Thompson, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Cobos-Cenobio allegedly got out of the car, and ran up to Thompson’s cruiser to exchange more gunfire, notes the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette.

After the green Saturn drove off, an unidentified woman got out of the vehicle, and the car drove off again.

A Springdale police officer reportedly spotted the car later that day, and Cobos-Cenobio fired shots at officers, according to the Springdale Police Department .

The Fayetteville Police Department and Arkansas State Police chased the car back to Springdale where Cobos-Cenobio reportedly stopped the car and surrendered.

Cobos-Cenobio faces four charges of attempted capital murder and one charge each of fleeing, terroristic act (no terrorism was reported), possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
