Newly-released body cam video shows Orange County Sheriff’s deputies arresting a 69-year-old grandmother for alleged CBD oil possession at Walt Disney World near Orlando, in early May (raw video below).
Hester Burkhalter told WOFL that she had a note from her doctor in North Carolina:
I have really bad arthritis in my legs, in my arms and in my shoulder. I use (CBD oil) for the pain because it helps. I’ve never had one speeding ticket in my life.
Walt Disney security guards called the police who took Burkhalter into custody because the CBD oil had a trace of THC.
CBD oil is still technically illegal in Florida, even though it is sold throughout the state and can be used id the user has a prescription.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office claimed the deputies did the right thing, but dropped the charges after public outrage and claimed their focus “is to get deadly drugs, like heroin and fentanyl, off the streets of our community.”
