Pennsylvania Police Take Wrong Man To Medical Center, Doctors Inject Him With Drugs, Give Him $50 Gift Card As Apology: Report

Eugene Wright says he was illegally taken into custody in June 2016 by police and a representative from Stairways Behavioral Health in Meadville, Pennsylvania.

The 63-year-old man told WPXI that he was a outside his home when he was falsely accused:

They explained to me earlier that day at 10 a.m. I was at an orthopedic office threatening people. I was at work.

Wright said they refused to check his identity, and transported him to the Meadville Medical Center.

Wright has now filed a lawsuit against the police department, Meadville Medical Center and Stairways Behavioral Health.

Wright claims the doctors at Meadville Medical Center injected him with Haldol, an antipsychotic drug, and Ativan, a drug for anxiety disorders.

I was powerless. I had no control of what was going on down there.

The doctors reportedly realized they had the wrong Eugene Wright, so they apologized and gave him a $50 gift card to a steakhouse.
