Pence Praises Joe Arpaio, Who Was Convicted Of Felony, As ‘Champion’ For ‘The Rule Of Law’

Speaking at a tax policy event in Arizona, Vice President Mike Pence praised former sheriff, former convicted felon and current U.S. Senate candidate Joe Arpaio as a “tireless champion of strong borders and the rule of law.”

Pence told Arpaio: “I’m honored to have you here,” but failed to mention Arpaio was convicted of a felony in federal court, a conviction that was pardoned by President Donald Trump in 2017.

While he was a sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona, Arpaio had a long history of racial profiling and civil rights violations.
