Pence Blames COVID-19 Surge on Young People Congregating Against Federal Guidelines– Just as Trump Did With 2 Rallies

During an interview on CBS News’ “Face the Nation,” Vice President Mike Pence blamed the surge in COVID-19 cases and deaths on young people not following social distancing guidelines, which is exactly what President Donald Trump and his followers did at rallies in Tulsa and Phoenix:

What is happening here is a combination of increased testing — we’re able to test a great deal more Americans than we were able to several months ago — but it also may be indication that as we’re opening our economy up, that younger Americans have been congregating in ways that may have disregarded the guidance that we gave on the federal level for all the phases of reopening.

Pence — who has refused to wear a COVID-19 safety mask — failed to mention that he was scheduled to attend campaign events in Arizona and Florida this week, which the Trump campaign said were canceled “out of an abundance of caution.”
